Darren Harris

Darren Harris performed at the highest level for over 20 years, competing at two Paralympic Games in two different sports and become England’s most capped and most decorated blind footballer.

In this episode we explore mindset and his research interviewing industry experts and high achievers who demonstrate a "minority mindset".

Darren tells us about the maths teacher who changed his life and inspires everything he does today.

And also about an incident during last year's Professional Speaking Association conference when a hotel receptionist paid for a taxi to get to another hotel for him.

Darren believes people often misunderstand how much money or time it costs to give a customer a good experience. But often it costs a little rather than a lot. It's about moving people emotionally, leaving them shocked or surprised.

His favourite quote:
"If it was easy, everyone would do it."

The message Darren wants to leave the audience with is:

"Imagine your business had its own fanatical fan base that tells the
world about you without you even knowing. That's how to become a real minority in your industry."
